It was a nervous wait for new Western Bulldogs midfielder Adam Treloar on Thursday night.

At the start of the week, Treloar expected to be a Collingwood player in 2021.

But by Thursday, he was set on becoming a Bulldog.

The 27-year-old met with senior coach Luke Beveridge and list boss Sam Power during the week, as the possibility of pulling on the red, white and blue started to become a believable proposition.

It took until 7.29pm – one minute before deadline – on Thursday for the deal to get done.

But Treloar is thankful it did, as he embarks on the next chapter in his football journey.

“It’s crazy to be here,” the star midfielder said, when he was unveiled at VU Whitten Oval today.

“Fifteen hours ago, I still didn’t know where I was playing, right until that last minute.

“I got the call from (my manager) Tim Hazell and the deal came through.

“I’m stoked to be here. One chapter closes and another one opens.”

Treloar’s football future had been a hot topic over the past month.

“Up until about Monday, I still thought I was going to be playing for Collingwood,” he said.

“I met ‘Bevo’ and Sam Power and instantly fell in love.

“When it became a realistic thing, it was something I hoped for towards the end (of trade period)… the season was done three or four weeks ago, but it felt like it hasn’t really stopped for Kim and I because it’s just been about where I’m playing my footy.

“It’s been a bit of a whirlwind for us, but I’m super proud to be standing here as a Western Bulldogs player.”
