Defender Jason Johannisen says there is still plenty to play out for the Western Bulldogs in the 2019 season.
The Bulldogs will face Fremantle on Sunday at Marvel Stadium, chasing a return to the winners’ list after their three-game winning streak was ended by St Kilda last week.
In an even competition, Johannisen remains optimistic about what the near future may hold for the Bulldogs.
“With the competition being so even, every game is going to count so we’ve just got to believe in the opportunity we have,” Johannisen told Sportsday WA this week.
“We need to focus on this week playing Fremantle.
“If we can build that momentum again like we’ve had in the past month, it can go a long way. You never really know (what could happen) at the end of the year, because we do play a lot of teams that are around our mark.
“We just have to stay optimistic.
“We have to keep working hard and trying to improve our game and then at the end of the season, who knows where we’re at.”
Johannisen said the Dockers would pose a serious threat, in what is a crucial game for both teams.
“They’re a team that likes to work hard, they have great fitness and some great runners like Brad Hill and Ed Langdon that use the ball well,” Johannisen said.
“We can’t go away from what’s been making us a good team and hopefully our game plan works this weekend.
“We’ve gone against teams like North Melbourne who have a lot of tall players, so we just need to use our strengths and hopefully we come out on top.”
