Western Bulldogs captain Marcus Bontempelli starred in his side’s 28-point win against Melbourne on Saturday and has again featured prominently in the coaches’ votes.
The 24-year-old received nine votes in the AFLCA Champion Player of the Year Award, for his 22-disposal performance against the Dees.
It followed a perfect 10-vote game the week before against Adelaide and takes Bontempelli to ninth spot on the leaderboard with 38 votes for the year.
Bontempelli and the Bulldogs controlled the voting, with seven of the eight players who polled wearing red, white and blue.
Four-goal forward Mitch Wallis received five votes, as did wingman Lachie Hunter for his 24-disposal day.
Midfield duo Tom Liberatore and Bailey Smith also had strong performances, collecting four and three disposals respectively, with dashing defender Jason Johannisen and ball magnet Jack Macrae picking up a vote each.
Dees defender Steven May was his side’s sole vote-winner, earning two votes.
