The Western Bulldogs today launched Our Heartland a unique membership video featuring up and coming Bulldog, Mitch Wallis, talking about the Club’s connection to Greater Western Melbourne and his passion for the red, white and blue.

The innovative video is backed by Triple J favourite, Running it , a song by local hip hop duo Diafrix who is made up of Momo and Azmarino – two African refugees who hail from Footscray.

Bulldogs Chief Executive, Simon Garlick, said that there was a deliberate local flavour to the video which celebrates the Bulldogs proud heritage, and strong  future, in Melbourne’s West.

“The heritage and future of our Club, more than any other team in the competition, is intrinsically linked to our geographic heartland,” Garlick said today.

“No matter where you come from – when you become a Bulldogs supporter you become a part of our community which has been anchored in the West for 130 years.

Garlick said that Our Heartland also told the story of the Western Bulldogs Football Team – a story of energy, passion, drive and excitement for the future.

“With a new coaching team in place, bolstered resources in the football department, and almost 20 debutants making an appearance in the red, white and blue in the last two years - we have a new story to tell and it’s one we want you to be part of in 2013,” Garlick said.

“As bodies harden and experience is gained, few other AFL clubs will have such a strong foundation for the future.

“As a Club, we are determined to seize the opportunities presented to us right here in our own heartland, to build a sustainable, successful football club, both on and off the field.”

Garlick called on all Bulldogs supporters to get behind the Club in 2013 and beyond.

“There is something happening out West and we want you to be at the heart of it,” Garlick said.
