Westernbulldogs.com.au looks at the key match ups and potential gamebreakers in this weekend's clash against Sydney.
Key Match Ups
Kieran Jack vs Matthew Boyd
Both these men get more than their fair share of the football on match day, so there is no doubt an interesting battle will ensue on Sunday. Winning the hard ball is Boyd’s forte but Jack has been dominating in that area of late. This potential match-up is one that is sure to excite.

Josh Kennedy vs Liam Picken
Picken is mastering his craft, sticking like glue to some of the game’s most dangerous players and this week it is Kennedy that is likely to attract his attention. Leading the league in clearances and ranked ninth in possessions Picken has a big task ahead of him - but looking at his past resume the Bulldog should be able to keep him in check.
Rhyce Shaw vs Tory Dickson
Despite only having 14 games under his belt Dickson has emerged as a key member of the Bulldogs forward line. The mature aged recruit has the solid build to slot straight into the senior side and is showing he has the skills as well. His defensive pressure across the forward half should also pose a good match for elite defender Rhyce Shaw. Runner-up in Sydney’s best and fairest last year he is quality opposition.
Game Breakers
Shaun Higgins
The inclusion of Shaun Higgins adds some extra potency to the Bulldogs forward line this week. The mid-sized forward has missed the last three games with a hamstring injury but will be keen to end the season with a bang.

Lewis Roberts-Thomson
Roberts-Thomson is arguably in career best form with his shift forward proving to be fruitful in recent weeks. Averaging 2.6 goals per game in the past three rounds, the Bulldogs will need to shut down his influence early. His versatility across the ground gives the Swans plenty of scope in how they use his assets.
Ryan Griffen
Griffen’s class and run will be a huge boost for the Bulldogs line-up. After being a late withdrawal last week with a back spasm he has been given the all clear by medical staff to play this weekend. His silky skills and ability to drive the ball inside 50m will be a great addition to the Dogs midfield stocks.
Adam Goodes
There is no denying the dual Brownlow Medallist is a game breaker and a very skilful one at that. He was reasonably quiet by his own standards last weekend against Collingwood but with finals looming he will be looking to build form.
