The Good
• The Round 4 NAB Rising Star nominee Mitch Wallis seems to have hit his stride collecting 25 possessions (15 contested, 10 uncontested) at 76% efficiency during Saturday’s clash with GWS. Wallis also laid 6 tackles, had 7 clearances and slotted through a goal.
• Another emerging talent Ayce Cordy began to find his feet at AFL level providing a presence in the Bulldogs forward 50 as well as following up at ground level after completing his ruck duties. Cordy finished the day with 11 hitouts, 6 mark, 13 disposals at 85% efficiency and a goal.

Area for improvement
• The first term saw the Bulldogs needing to apply more pressure to nullify their opponents. The Dogs turned this around heading into the second quarter according to Development Manager Chris Maple allowing them to build on the momentum which lead to their 42 point defeat over the Giants.

Stat that mattered
• The stat that mattered in Round 5 was that the Bulldogs held GWS to 37 inside 50s for the game - indicating that our defensive work around the ground improved. Conversely the Bulldogs continued to drive the ball into their forward line to register 62 inside 50s during the match.

Player of the Day
• Ryan Griffen’s 37 possessions was the stand out performance in the clash against GWS Giants. Of those possessions 13 were contested while 24 were uncontested at an impressive 86% efficiency. Griffen was instrumental through the midfield with 6 clearances and 8 inside 50s. Griffen also saw his name on the scoreboard kicking one major and had a hand in two other scoring opportunities.

Dream Team Analysis
• Mitch Wallis’s efforts saw him notch a Dream Team personal best for the second week in a row scoring 107 points - last round Wallis’s 89 point score was considered a personal best 
• Ryan Griffen was the top Dream Team scorer for the Bulldogs against GWS with 124 points.
• Both Matthew Boyd and Daniel Cross were not far behind with 115 and 109 points respectively.
