Footballs were exchanged for golf balls on Friday at Hidden Valley Golf and Country Club for the annual Western Bulldogs Corporate Golf Classic.
Nine teams made their way around the 18-hole championship course in perfect golf conditions, exemplified by the quality of play throughout the day.
The event was a relaxed way for corporate representatives to interact with each other whilst also playing golf with a number of Bulldogs’ players.
The Wallan layout also provided the ideal venue to get away from the rigors of pre-season training for Bulldogs' Lindsay Gilbee, Adam Cooney, Nathan Eagleton, Ryan Griffen, Dale Morris and Tim Callan.
After completing six one kilometre times trials on Thursday, Gilbee, who formed part of the LeasePlan team, said the golf outing provided some light relief from the Bulldogs’ hectic pre-season schedule.
“It’s a nice way to have a break from what has been a busy time since our return to the training track. The legs were a bit tired after Thursday’s session, so it’s good to jump in a golf cart and have a round at Hidden Valley,” he said.
New Bulldogs recruit Tim Callan proved he was no hack, letting fly with some monster drives on a course that included a number of water hazards, all of which Callan avoided.
One Bulldog that did end up in the drink however was Dale Morris, whose tee shot at the 18th never looked like landing on the island green - his ball finding a new home beneath 10 feet of water.
Having more success on the day were the eventual winners from WorkSafe, who each collected a new golf bag, shoes and glove, courtesy of the Hidden Valley pro-shop.
