WESTERN Bulldogs coach Rodney Eade will consider recalling Andrejs Everitt this week in a bid to match the Brisbane Lions for tall mobility.

Everitt, 20, was dropped from the side for the Bulldogs' first final against Geelong on Saturday, after putting in a solid performance against Collingwood in round 22 when he was called in late for Ben Hudson.

Eade said he would consider naming Everitt for Friday night's semi-final, given the mobility of the Lions' lone ruckman Mitch Clark and his backup, Jared Brennan.

"He didn't play exceptionally well [in the VFL] on the weekend, but his performance against Collingwood was very good," he said on One Week at a Time on Monday night.

"We had to make the change to bring Hudson in because we were playing against [Brad] Ottens and [Mark] Blake, and as a second ruckman, he's not going to be able to compete with those guys.

"But he certainly played well around the ground, and he gives us an option as another winger/running half-back as well.

"Hudson and Minson have been in pretty good form, even though Will didn't play that well on the weekend.

"He certainly comes into contention for Brisbane this week, there's no doubt."

Eade also issued a challenge to the rest of his players to improve from last week's performance if they want to be known as an elite side.

"Reputations are made in September, or they're lost," he said.

"It's no matter what you do in rounds one to 22. People can remember that, but certainly it lingers longer in your memory, how you perform in September under the heat.

"That's what it's all about. [Brad] Johnson has done that, [Jason] Akermanis has done that, but players starting to forge their careers or playing finals in the first two or three years of their career, really need to be able to forge that.

"A lot of them will have taken stock from the weekend."

Eade lamented his side's unforced errors, sloppy start and uneven effort for their loss to the Cats, which cost them a preliminary final berth and a week off.

"[Our kicking] was poor. I think the worst part of the game was the first quarter for us, and Geelong's skills were fantastic," he said.

"People talk about our forward line, but really, our forwards had no chance with the way we kicked the ball.

"There were a lot of times where our forwards were out or they had space, and we kicked it over their heads or we dropped some chest marks.

"The pleasing thing was that we didn't play very well but we hung in there and we were a chance at the end.

"Hopefully we can have that grit we showed for three quarters for four quarters."
