This week the Club celebrated the re-signing of Senior Coach Rodney Eade until the end of the 2011 Season, which is a great step forward for the Western Bulldogs.

Club President David Smorgon OAM said that "the extension of Rodney's contract is a reflection that the Club has great confidence in his ability, and is a demonstration of our commitment to him for a further two years."

"We believe we have a great structure in place to compliment his skills to help the Club on its Mission," Smorgon said.

Last weekend the Western Bulldogs suffered a disappointing loss to 13th placed West Coast.

Despite the teams best efforts and a heart stopping final term, the Bulldogs missed out on the win by 5 points. Bulldogs youngster Callan Ward commented that it was important to give West Coast credit as they hung on, even when the Bulldogs fought back in the final term and that it "just goes to show how even the competition is," a lesson the team has learnt.  This week they will be back in winning form as they take on the Brisbane Lions at the Gabba.

At last weekend's game the Western Bulldogs, the AFL and Victoria University (VU) hosted 200 international students at their first AFL match (as pictured above). The match visit is a direct result of a partnership between the Western Bulldogs and VU, which gives all VU students and staff a free 3 match membership.

We are now nearing the end of the Season and as the team travels interstate for the last time, the pressure is on across the board as teams fight to secure a place in the top eight.

The Bulldogs are now fighting to secure a place in the top four; Senior Coach Rodney Eade expressed in this week's press conference the importance of winning this weekend's clash."We've got to win. This is a big game for us for a whole range of reasons."

This is the first time these teams have met this season and supporters can expect an exciting clash as the fourth placed Bulldogs meet fifth placed Brisbane.

This weekend we celebrate another milestone for Club great Nathan Eagleton, as he plays his 200th Club game. Scott Welsh is also due to play his 200th game of AFL football. Welsh found his way to the Whitten Oval in 2008 via the Pre Season Draft, where he has been a strong contributor and dangerous target up forward. He provides a fantastic option on the lead and is vital to the Western Bulldogs forward line as it moves towards September.
