In response to a recent article, Western Bulldogs Senior Coach Rodney Eade would like to clarify his position in regards to a proposed interchange cap.

Despite a report to the contrary, Eade says that he is comfortable with the process the AFL are following in regards to this issue and looked to clarify his position today.

“The AFL have consulted us throughout the process and we are meeting with them again next week.

“I have spoken to Andrew McKay over the phone a couple of times since the AFL met with us 5 or 6 weeks ago, I also spoke with him again today to clarify my position on a proposed interchange cap.  Certainly from my point of view the process has been very transparent.  While we may not agree with the 3 alternatives, certainly the AFL are prepared to discuss this with us over the coming weeks.

“The AFL have data to back their position on this issue, but the concern from our end is whether the new proposed rules would limit the ability of some players to survive in the game, specifically a second ruckman,” Eade said.

The Club looks forward to continuing the consultative process with the AFL and the 15 other Clubs around this matter.
