New Western Bulldogs recruit Zephaniah Skinner says he cannot wait to begin his AFL career at Whitten Oval.

Originally from the Kimberley in WA, Skinner moved to Darwin at the end of 2009 to chase his dream.

Last night's news is still sinking in for the excitement machine, but he is looking forward to the challenge.

"I am really pumped up and excited to be drafted.  I cannot wait to meet my team mates in the coming days.

"It was a surprise; I was thinking I was a rookie chance.  The Club have been in contact and kept an eye on me.  They told me to play good footy and see what happens, I just can’t wait to get started," he said.

Taken with Pick 88 in last night's Draft, Skinner says that the Bulldogs Recruiting Department helped him focus on staying positive and working hard over the last 12 months.

"I have been getting a lot feedback from Wayne McCraw who told me not to give up, you’re still young and that was great," he said.

It has been a whirlwind 24 hours for the new Bulldog and he is excited by the prospect of moving to Melbourne.

"I am really looking forward to it.  I have been to Melbourne before, it’s pretty different going from the bush into the city but I am sure the Club will help me settle in so I can play my best footy and feel comfortable.

"My goal is to train hard, earn the respect of my team mates and get a game next Season," he said.
