Western Bulldogs captain Matthew Boyd was rewarded for another outstanding season by winning his third Charles Sutton Medal as the Club’s best and fairest winner in 2012 with 168 votes.

Fresh from signing a contract extension, the durable midfielder played all 22 games this season, and a remarkable 167 from 169 games over the past seven seasons.

The 30-year-old led the AFL in disposals in the home and away season for the second consecutive year, and edged out fellow midfielder Ryan Griffen (150 votes) for the prestigious award.

Griffen continued his rise up the AFL ranks with another stand-out season and is now considered among the elite midfielders in the game, finishing in the league’s top five in inside 50 entries for the second season in-a-row.

Hard-at-it midfielder Liam Picken, rounded out the top three with 110 votes, as well as receiving the Brad Johnson Best Team Player award for his selfless, understated style of play.

In promising signs for the club’s future, youngsters Luke Dahlhaus (4th), Mitch Wallis (5th), Tom Liberatore (7th) and first year player Tory Dickson (8th) all featured in the top ten.
