Incorporating basketball, netball, futsal, volleyball and badminton, the Community Sports Hall is an international standard facility that is expected to be home to over 4,000 active participants per week.

Victoria University, in partnership with the Western Bulldogs, will operate the centre which will open in late July 2011.

There are places currently available for evening competitions commencing in late July as follows:

Monday Nights -   Men’s and Women’s Futsal

In addition to the night competitions, a range of other programs are available including specialised sports clinics, exercise testing, primary and secondary school half and full day programs. The community sports hall will also be available for casual hire.

"The Western Bulldog’s Community Sports Hall will provide much-needed state-of-the-art facilities at Whitten Oval for the whole western region,” Simon Garlick, Western Bulldogs Chief Executive said.

With funding from the Commonwealth  Government Jobs Fund, the John T Reid Charitable Trusts, Sidney Myer Fund and the Western Bulldogs, the sports hall is the final stage of the current Whitten Oval redevelopment.

With support from City West Water, the Whitten Oval redevelopment, including the new sports hall will be completely water self-sufficient, generating over 6 million litres of rain water and storm water recapture.

"The Western Bulldogs definitely are red, white, blue & green," added Mr Garlick.

Employment opportunities at the sports hall have also commenced, with applications being accepted for the first role of Sport Facility Co-ordinator.  To view this position, click here.
