THE WESTERN Bulldogs will play their eighth debutant for the season on Friday night against Adelaide with young West Australian Jayden Schofield named in the final 22.

Schofield, 19, was recruited with the Bulldogs' third selection in last year's NAB AFL Draft (pick No.74 overall) from East Fremantle, behind father-son acquisitions Mitch Wallis and Tom Liberatore.

Coach Rodney Eade said on Thursday the Dogs were not planning to use Schofield as the substitute player in his first game despite giving Wallis, Zeph Skinner and Luke Dahlhaus the green vest in their debuts.

Liberatore, Christian Howard, James Mulligan and Lukas Markovic are the others to have made their AFL debut for the Dogs in 2011.

Schofield is one of three inclusions, with Adam Cooney returning from a knee injury that has kept him out since round eight and Lindsay Gilbee back after spending last week in the VFL.

"He's a back flank/wing player from East Fremantle Colts and has been in very good form this year for the Williamstown Seagulls," Eade told Bulldogs TV.

Brennan Stack (hamstring), Mulligan (calf) and Howard (omitted) are out of the side that lost to St Kilda by 24 points last Friday night.

Eade said Howard would play in the VFL and would "hopefully back soon inside the senior side".

Barry Hall has not been named and will miss one more week, although he did train on Thursday, while Brian Lake will play in VFL side Williamstown's clash with Frankston at Avalon Airport Oval in Chirnside Park on Saturday afternoon.

Robert Murphy will play his 200th game on Friday night while Callan Ward will rack up his 50th.
