Williamstown 6.13 (49) def by Northern Bullants 11:12 (78)

It’s time again to get the inside word on our boys in the VFL from Western Bulldogs Development Coach Chris Maple.  Chris, while the Reserves had the weekend off awaiting their Preliminary Final, the Senior’s took on the Northern Bullants in tricky conditions at Burbank Oval.  And unfortunately it was not a great day out for the boys.

Were you happy with the performance on the weekend?

Well David, it was a disappointing result for Williamstown in the first week of the Finals, with the game being played in windy conditions on a very hard surface. The Bullant’s held Williamstown against the wind and then broke out to a 20 point lead by half time.  The Willy boys ran hard in the last quarter but couldn’t convert on the score board.

Which Western Bulldogs listed players lined up on the weekend?

Playing for the Seniors were Dylan Addison, Tim Callan, Wayde Skipper, Guy O’Keefe, Jarrad Boumann, Jordan Roughead, Brennan Stack , Sam Reid, Andrejs Everitt,  Easton Wood and Stephen Tiller.

Who were the standouts?

Tim Callan was best on ground playing in defence, while Easton Wood and Dylan Addison tried hard all day.

Will anyone be pushing for selection in this weekend’s Semi-Final?

Tim Callan, Brennan Stack, Stephen Tiller, Easton Wood, Andrejs Everitt and Sam Reid will all be a chance this week I would think.

Well our luck with injuries has continued, how would you rate the performance of the Western Bulldogs boys?

The Bulldogs players all had consistent games, in particular the backline with Callan, Addison, Boumann, and Wood. The only forward to show some spark was Brennan Stack who was lively at half forward and Easton Woods mark in the first quarter was a highlight.

Looking ahead, who should we keep our eye on?

Ayce Cordy will have a big pre season and will be better for it next year.  Western Bulldog fans can look forward to seeing him improve greatly next year.

Thanks for your time today Chris, there is a massive weekend for the Club ahead of us.  Let’s hope all three sides can keep their Premiership dreams alive...Go Dog’s!
