Season Overview:
Season 2012 confronted Liam Jones with a challenge to stamp his authority on the Bulldogs forward line. While the 21 year old at times struggled to fend off the opposition’s best defender, he still showed a number of good signs. His marking ability is one of his strengths which he demonstrated at both AFL and VFL level this season with particular success playing further up the ground. He averaged almost four marks per game at AFL level and almost six marks at VFL level. He also contributed to the scoreboard in the majority of his 12 senior games and as he continues to develop will become a dangerous forward target.

By the Numbers:
Jones kicked at least one goal in eight out of his 12 games for the season totalling nine majors and ranking equal sixth at the Club in goal kicking. He also added to the Dogs scoring tally with four goal assists. He equalled a career best six inside 50s on two occasions throughout the year. The 21 year old also averaged almost one more one percenter per game on his previous record.

Season Highlight:
The season opener against West Coast Eagles was potentially Jones’s best game for the year where he racked up a career best 15 disposals. He also kicked one goal, three behinds, had two goal assists, took four marks and had four inside 50s proving to be a dangerous target in the forward line.

Pre-Season Focus:
Confidence played its part in Jones’s season so regaining faith in his abilities will be a priority. Continuing to bulk up to play a more physical game and hold down one of the key forward posts next year will also be high on the agenda.
