THE WESTERN Bulldogs will wait until late in the week before deciding if Brad Johnson faces Melbourne at the MCG on Friday night as he battles groin soreness.

Coach Rodney Eade said the club would take a cautious approach with the skipper, who has played three games this season after an interrupted pre-season.

“He’s a bit sore in the groin, so we’ll probably wait until the end of the week,” Eade said on Tuesday. “I think at best he’s 50-50 at this stage.

“It’s mostly tightness. He missed a little bit of the pre-season and hasn’t played many games.

“But there’s no big drama. We’d more likely err on the side of caution because of his previous workload.

“There’s no doubt he probably could be able to play, but we’ll just wait until later in the week.”
