Once again it is time to catch up with Western Bulldogs Development Coach Chris Maple, who is going to give us the inside word on our boy’s who were in action for Williamstown over the weekend.  Sandringham beat the Seagulls by 26 points on Sunday, but Maple believes there are still plenty of positives to take out of the game.

Welcome back Chris, how did you assess the performance over the weekend?

Thanks David it is great to be back, despite the fact that it was a disappointing result on Sunday. Williamstown didn’t capitalise on their scoring opportunities when we were kicking with the wind, while Sandringham who were playing to stay in finals contention finished the game off strongly.

Which Western Bulldogs listed players were involved with the Williamstown Seniors/Reserves this weekend?

In the Seniors we had Jordan Roughead, Tim Callan, Andrjes Everitt, Easton Wood, Wayde Skipper, Guy O’Keefe, Jamason Daniels, Brennan Stack Jarred Grant, and Jarrad Boumann.  While lining up for the Reserves were Malcom Lynch, Ayce Cordy, Henry White, and Chris Ogle.

Were there any standout players on the weekend?

Yes there were, in the Seniors Easton Wood had his best game for the year, Brennan Stack was exciting early and Wayde Skipper had another consistent game.  While in the Reserves Malcom Lynch was exciting at times and Ayce Cordy proved to be a good marking target up forward.

Are there any players pushing for Senior selection at the Western Bulldogs this week?

As usual all players are pressing for selection which is why it is difficult to get a game at the moment. Tim Callan, Andrjes Everitt, Brennan Stack, Guy O’Keefe  and Wayde Skipper are all playing consistently at Williamstown and are making a strong case for selection.

Fortunately there were no injuries to come out of the weekend, what was a highlight from Sunday?

All players had good games and performed well applying pressure to the players in the Seniors. A highlight of the day was Jamason Daniels making his senior debut and the close checking role played by Easton Wood.

That is exciting news, finally looking ahead, who should we keep our eye on for a call up?

Guy O’Keefe has been a model of consistency this season, hopefully he can continue his good form and force his way into the senior team. He uses the ball well and usually kicks a goal or two.

Thanks again for your time Chris, hopefully the boys will be able to bounce back against North Ballarat on Saturday.
