The Western Bulldogs have announced they will pay a special tribute to Charles (Charlie) Sutton at the Dogs’ 2012 Best & Fairest ceremony, named in the great man’s honour, to be held on October 6th at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.
 
In what is sure to be a moving night - this year’s Charles Sutton Medallist will be the first recipient of the award since the passing of the Bulldogs famous hero in June earlier this year.

As the first man inducted into the Western Bulldogs Hall of Fame as a Legend, Charlie will forever remain an integral part of the Club’s history.
 
The Captain - Coach of the Dogs’ 54 Premiership Team, Charlie is the epitome of a Club man and team player.
 
In a playing career spanning 14 years - Charlie was Captain-Coach from 1951-56. He then returned to the coaching role from 1967-68 and then went on to act as president from 1978-81.
 
His incredible and enduring  influence on the Club ensuring the Bulldogs’ Best & Fairest was named in his honour.
 
Bulldogs Captain Matthew Boyd capped off an outstanding year in 2011 to win his second Charles Sutton Medal from defender Robert Murphy last season.
