On Tuesday the 1st of June Bulldogs Friendly Primary Schools were treated to visits from members of the Western Bulldogs playing group.

The players visited the schools to teach them football skills and discuss leadership, nutrition, healthy lifestyle choices and what it takes to be an elite footballer.
The Bulldogs Friendly Schools program aims to engage primary and secondary schools throughout the western suburbs of Melbourne. Primary schools take part in our Footy in Schools (FIS) or Multicultural Schools Football Programs (MSFP).

These programs are delivered in partnership with education students from Victoria University and are based on core values such as leadership, harmony, teamwork, healthy eating, fair play and respect; players share their experiences to show why these values are important not only in football but everyday life.

Dinjerra Primary School in Braybrook is currently participating in the MSFP and was lucky enough to receive a visit from Daniel Giansiracusa and Brennan Stack. This was extra special for the school in that Daniel Giansiracusa was recently named the Western Bulldogs Multicultural Programs Ambassador. During the visit he spoke to the students, most of which are from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, about the importance of healthy eating, healthy living and how Australian Football can encourage community strength and inclusion, which is not only of benefit to the participants and their families but society as a whole.

Daniel also delivered a clinic, teaching the students some of the basic skills involved in Australian Football and finished the visit by participated in a game of footy.

The relationship between Dinjerra Primary School and the Western Bulldogs has been extremely positive and is now in its fifth year, which is a testament to the strength of the program and the Club’s ongoing community involvement.

The primary schools program began in 2006 and Dinjerra has been involved since its inception, for this the Western Bulldogs would like to acknowledge and thank them and all of our Bulldogs Friendly Schools for their ongoing support of our community initiatives.
