The Western Bulldogs can claim the scalp of eighth placed North Melbourne if they play stronger for longer according to forward Daniel Giansiracusa.

After defeating the Kangaroos by 18 points in their Round 7 clash, the veteran forward believes his team can win the four points again on Saturday at Etihad Stadium.

“Our focus will be on going stronger for longer and if we can do that, we’ll give ourselves every chance,” Giansiracusa said.

“North Melbourne are in great form and we’ll need to work pretty hard to limit clean inside 50’s to their dangerous forwards among other things.

“Obviously contested ball is still a big focus too.”

All-Australian Brian Lake demonstrated he is capable of keeping Roos forward Drew Petrie in check restricting him to three goals and nine disposals in Round 7 and will be eager to win the battle again this week.

Meanwhile, the return of Tom Williams has bolstered the Bulldogs tall stocks and will provide support for Lake against North’s key goal kickers as well as having the ability to shift forward if needed.

North Melbourne’s midfield lead by Brent Harvey, Andrew Swallow and Daniel Wells, will also need to be shut down if the Bulldogs want to win.

“They have some depth through their midfield which we will need to keep in check,” Giansiracusa said.

The Bulldogs will also have the added speed of debutant Jason Johannisen running off half back and up on the wing gaining his chance after some solid performances in the VFL.

Also making a return to the senior side is spring-heeled forward Zeph Skinner known for his leap and creativity with ball in hand.

“JJ gets his chance which he has earned off the back of some really good form at Williamstown and Zephi Skinner will no doubt add some excitement and another avenue to our forward line,” Giansiracusa said.

Last time they met it was mature aged recruit Tory Dickson who dominated in the forward line with four goals with Giansiracusa contributed with three majors.
