The Western Bulldogs will take part in an exhibition game in London later this year against Port Adelaide, on Saturday November 3.
Simon Garlick, Western Bulldogs’ Chief Executive, today welcomed the AFL’s announcement that the Bulldogs will take part in an exhibition game in London later this year against Port Adelaide, on Saturday November 3.
Garlick said the match represented a unique opportunity for the Club to highlight both AFL and the Bulldogs on the international stage and to begin preparations for the 2013 AFL Premiership Season.
“The Western Bulldogs are viewing the clash as a unique opportunity to not only promote our great game but to also kick-start our 2013 pre-season campaign,” Garlick said.
“We will most certainly be taking the opportunity while in Europe to take advantage of the professional development opportunities available to the Club and our players overseas.
“As a Club we are particularly excited to be able to seize the opportunities available to us through our education and sports science partnership with Victoria University - the University of Melbourne’s West.,” Garlick said.
As part of the tour, the Team will also take part in promotional activities as well as visiting elite English Premier League soccer clubs to gain valuable insight into best practice training and operational techniques used by some of the world’s biggest sporting Clubs.
The game will take place at the historic Kia Oval.
