Following the disappointing loss against Essendon in the season’s opening round, our coaching staff has spent the week deep in review mode and in discussions with players about the lacklustre performance.

The coaches, led by Senior Coach Rodney Eade, had two choices: make dramatic changes to the side for the upcoming clash against the Brisbane Lions, or back the players originally selected for their skills and strength of character.

This week, members and supporters will see the same team - with one change - run onto the field… but they won’t see the same performance. As Senior Coach Eade explains, the coaching staff has great faith in their selection and knows that the Western Bulldogs will bounce back this week and in the weeks ahead.

With Easton Wood sidelined for eight to 10 weeks for his ankle surgery and recovery, Liam Picken will start at half back flank. Justin Sherman will shed the substitute vest and is expected to lift to show exactly why he was picked up. Liberatore and Markovic’s impressive form should continue, while Jones also showed encouraging signs.

Wallis, Roughead, Minson and Moles have been named in the squad of 25 players to be cut to 22 tomorrow afternoon.

And sure to boost the boys and the crowd on Sunday is the lap of honour before the game paying tribute to Western Bulldogs champions, Brad Johnson and Nathan Eagleton as well as the unveiling of our new Footscray End.

So Get Behind Us as we get the Lions.
