The countdown to the 2012 AFL Premiership Season is well underway, as are the Western Bulldogs' preparations for the season opener against West Coast Eagles on Sunday April 1st at Etihad Stadium.

So that you don't miss a thing, details of all match day activities for the Round 1 match are listed below.

Also note that 'Run For The Kids' fun run is operating in the Docklands precinct on the morning of the match. Find below details on changed traffic conditions and alternate transportation arrangements to ensure that you arrive at the ground on time and without delay.

MATCH DAY ACTIVITIES:
 
Round 1 begins with a bang and we have heaps of great Member and Fan activities occurring at Etihad Stadium on match day.
  • See which Bulldogs players Doggies fans chose to represent the team at Gate 3 with the unveiling of our new banners. 
  • Get down to the Footscray End (Gate 7) to meet Woofer, Sid and see our new artwork that makes the Footscray End the hub of all fan activity on match day
  • Say a final good bye to Barry Hall as he does his lap of honour - get to your seats by 12.30pm to send him off in style
  • Former Bulldogs Legend and new Football Director Chris Grant will be taking the match day ball out to the centre square pre-game as part of the AFL's opening round ritual
  • Watch out for our new team introductions on the big screen as the boys run out, we think you’ll like it
  • Get vocal at quarter and three-quarter time and help the Western Bulldog’s Cheer Squad raise the roof as they take on the Eagle’s Cheer Squad in our exclusive atmosphere challenge brought to you by FOXTEL’s dedicated AFL Xbox channel, FOOTY PLAY Powered by FOX SPORTS.
 
 
IMPORTANT TRANSPORT INFORMATION:
 
It’s important to remember that the Run for the Kids charity event is occurring in and around Melbourne and the Docklands Precinct on the morning of the game which may have a slight impact on some Members and Fans who are travelling to the ground.
 
To make sure you get there on time to see Barry and the boys we have a few tips:
 
  • Leave 15 minutes earlier and plan your trip beforehand
  • The Bolte Bridge and Harbour Esplanade will be closed - so enter the Etihad Stadium precinct via Wurrundjeri Way.
  • Enter Etihad Stadium Car Park via entries A and B (off Bourke Street via Wurrundjeri Way) or entry C, D and E (off Wurrundjeri Way).  These car park entry points will be operational as per normal.
  • If travelling from the Eastern Suburbs we advise you to take Eastlink.  If using the Monash Freeway, you will have to exit at Toorak Road
  • Footscray Road remains open to traffic, allowing access from the western (and northern) suburbs
  • Consider public transport - check out www.metlinkmelbourne.com.au.  There are no changes to the scheduled train services on this day.
