Key defender Tom Williams is making a case for senior selection after a solid showing for Williamstown on Sunday, as he continues to make strides in his rehabilitation.
Sidelined since NAB Cup Round 2 with a shoulder injury, Williams is continuing to regain form in the Western Bulldogs VFL affiliate side according to Club Physiotherapist Alicia Tang.
“[Williams] certainly played the most game time he’s played since his return and put in a strong performance for Williamstown in the win against Collingwood,” she said.
The Bulldogs are also set to regain a number of experienced players in the next fortnight with Robert Murphy and Daniel Giansiracusa tracking well.
Listed as one week away from return, Tang is happy with their progress and confident that they will be back in the mix in coming weeks.
“Gia and Murph are both progressing well - they are running well which is what we like to see, so all signs are positive for a soon return,” Tang said.
With no major casualties from Sunday’s clash with Fremantle in Perth there are no additions to the injury list from the weekend.
Shaun Higgins received a minor knock to the calf but is expected to line up against Hawthorn next weekend - his progress will be monitored in the following days.
“We will continue to asses him as the week goes on but we certainly don’t expect it to impact him greatly,” she said.
The rest of the injury list is progressing as expected.
