Murphy and Williams back for Tiger hunt
Coach Rodney Eade says Rob Murphy and Tom Williams will face Richmond on Friday night
Coach Rodney Eade confirmed on Tuesday Murphy was set to resume from a two-week hamstring injury while Williams was expected to play despite being a late withdrawal from the clash with the Sydney Swans last week with foot soreness.
Meanwhile, Welsh has accepted a one-week ban for his rough conduct against Swan Jared Crouch, but Lake will take his case to the tribunal on Tuesday night to fight against a tripping charge.
Eade believes the Dogs will be able to cover the absence of Lake if he fails to have the charge overturned.
"We've got Tommy coming back so that will cover that, but without saying too much, we're reasonably confident about Brian," he said.
There were a few Bulldogs that didn't participate in Tuesday's session at Whitten Oval, with Ryan Hargrave, Dale Morris and Williams absent. Ryan Griffen was on a modified regime.
"There were a few that are nursed as part of their program," Eade explained. "That's normal at this stage."
Eade said Murphy would not be given a run at Williamstown before playing seniors, despite not playing since round eight.
"You play your quality straight away," he said.
He also said Lindsay Gilbee was continuing to suffer from the ankle injury he sustained against Geelong, but was available to face the Tigers.
"It's a funny one. He'll get better each week. It just looks worse when he jogs because he's got a habit of jogging on his heels, and that's when he gets a bit of pain with it," he said.
"He's a lot better this week but when he sprints, he's 100 per cent.”
Hargrave, who went swimming on Tuesday as he continues to recover from a recent quad injury, will celebrate his 150th game this weekend against the Tigers.
