Emerging ruckman Tim English was best afield against Essendon – according to both coaches – in Friday night’s impressive win.
English polled a perfect 10 in the AFL Coaches Association’s AFL Champion Player Award, as Luke Beveridge and John Worsfold agreed he stood head and shoulders above the rest at Metricon Stadium.
The 22-year-old’s career-best performance included 22 disposals, six clearances and a goal.
This week’s voting was completely dominated by Bulldog players.
Midfield star Jack Macrae collected eight votes for his 29-disposal night, while Mitch Wallis’ three-goal haul earned him five votes.
Skipper Marcus Bontempelli (four votes) and Tom Liberatore (three votes) rounded out the voting, as both coaches agreed on the five best players on the ground – albeit in different orders after English and Macrae.
