It was speed over endurance on Wednesday when the Western Bulldogs playing group were put through their paces in a range of sprint testing exercises.

Students from Victoria University were on hand to assist in the drills, which produced some unexpected results, according to Christian Howard.

While Luke Dahlhaus exploited his natural speed and agility to record a promising result, it was Dylan Addison who impressed the South Australian recruit.

“I got here a bit early and I was watching Dahl do it… and I don’t know if he’s actually quick or he just looks like he’s moving quick… but he was flying,” Howard said.

“I think Dyl Addison might have set a pretty hot time as well, so that’s a bit surprising”

The sport and exercise science expertise at the Bulldogs disposal through the Victoria University partnership also allowed the Club to monitor the weight distribution and running style.

“It was good to have the VU people down on the sprint testing day,” he said.

“We had these contraptions… one on each of my legs and one on my arm and it was just to measure when we are running if we are running evenly or if we are sort of leaning to one side.

“I haven’t got the results back but it will be good to see what that will be.”
