Injury-plagued Western Bulldogs defender Tom Williams is facing yet another stint on the sidelines after suffering a shoulder injury in the Dogs’ nine-point win over Port Adelaide at TIO Stadium in Darwin on Saturday night.

The 26-year-old dislocated his troublesome right shoulder when reaching for a mark in the second quarter, and was quickly subbed out of the game.

It's the same shoulder that he had reconstructive surgery on last season, but coach Brendan McCartney hasn't ruled him out for the year just yet.

"We'll just wait for scans," McCartney said on Saturday night.

"He's in a fair bit of pain. He was a sad soul at the end."

Since being drafted in 2004, Williams has managed just 78 games after being dogged by hamstring, quadriceps, thigh, foot and shoulder problems.

"Rehab's not a great place to be. You grow up wanting to play footy and you get an opportunity to play AFL footy, which is a lot of people's dreams.

"Tom's no different, and he hasn't been able to do that."

Midfielder Koby Stevens copped a knock to his right quadriceps, but gallantly played on, primarily in the forward line.

"He was terrific too," McCartney said.

"He anchored in the goal square, and was pivotal in the third quarter for us. He's a tough kid, Koby. He's emerging really well for us."

In better injury news for the Bulldogs, both Adam Cooney and captain Matthew Boyd will be available for selection after the bye round.
