The number three has enormous significance in the Western Bulldogs’ proud history - and any locker with both Ted ‘EJ’ Whitten snr and Chris Grant’s names on the door will always be held in high esteem.

Throughout the eras, those who have worn the number three on their backs in the red, white and blue have worn the guernsey with dignity and pride.

Three of the top ten Bulldogs’ games record holders have worn the number three in Whitten, Grant and Arthur Olliver – all three are also represented in the Bulldogs Hall of Fame.

The trio are joined by 1970’s Bulldog Allan Stoneham in reaching the 100 game milestone in the number three guernsey and together have contributed to 26 years of captaincy, 20 years as coach, nine best and fairest awards, nine leading goal kicker awards and six All Australian selections.

The significance continues to grow with 2010 father-son selection Mitch Wallis adopting the highly regarded number three and has since shown signs that he will be at the kennel for the long-term.

The son of 261-gamer Steven Wallis has notched 43-games himself in his first three years and is becoming an integral cog in the next generation Bulldogs’ midfield.

You too could have your name alongside Ted ‘EJ’ Whitten Snr and Chris Grant on the number three locker at the Victoria University Whitten Oval, with the Club offering a unique opportunity to all members and fans.

All the money raised will go towards putting our new VFL team, the Footscray Bulldogs, on the park in 2014.
