Six of the Western Bulldogs’ inaugural women’s side have earned the highest honours over the weekend, named in the 2013 All Australian side after competing at the National Women’s Championships in Cairns.
Led by Bulldogs’ women’s captain Aasta O'Connor, the six girls impressed at the four day football championships which culminated in two division finals on Saturday.
Victorians Aasta O’Connor, Karen Paxman, Katie Brennan and Stephanie Chiocci added to their illustrious footballing resumes, while Emma Kearney (Vic) and Kate Lutkins (QLD) were named in the All Australian side for the first time.
Five of the Bulldogs women’s team also found form towards the end of the carnival, named in the best players in the division one final, including Katie Brennan who was named best afield.
