With five games remaining in the 2013 season, there’s still a lot to be gained forward Dylan Addison says, and the young Bulldog group don’t have any intention of letting up.
“I think we just want to keep developing, keep working ourselves to improve,” Addison said.
“As a developing side you just want to play as much footy as you can together.
“Hopefully our young forwards can get a few more games together and get that cohesion and our back men and midfield too.”
The path has been clearly set out at Whitten Oval and Addison said his teammates are committed to the journey and each other, with results already beginning to show.
“We’ve definitely got a clear path with Brendan and certainly the guys have bought into his game plan,” he said.
“It’s a very contested ball game plan and we are confident in that side of our game.”
While defensive elements of the game plan emerged last year, the Bulldogs improved attack and ball movement have contributed to the Club’s recent lift in form.
“The last three weeks we have started to take some steps forward in our ball movement going forward and [been] able to score some goals so there’s been some positive signs in that,” he said.
“We’ve still got a bit of work to do but there’s a few positive signs in the attacking side of the game in the last few weeks.”
Addison’s personal focus has also shifted to attack, further consolidating his place in the forward line this season, kicking nine goals from eight outings - including four goals against St Kilda.
“[At the] end of last year I started to play a few games up forward just as a defensive forward and [I am] enjoying that,” he said.
“[We] work over the pre-season on the attacking side of my game and I am just feeling a lot more confident going for my marks and been working on my marking contests.
“It’s a work in progress but I am certainly feeling confident up there and hopefully will keep that up.”
