The Western Bulldogs are set to regain the services of Matthew Boyd against West Coast, after the captain’s absence captain since round 14 with a fractured cheekbone.

Boyd said he is feeling confident in his body and is eager to take to the field, if he gets through the main training session today unscathed.

“I’ve got the main session to get through now but all looking good for a return this week, so I am looking forward to getting back out there,” Boyd said.

“I know it is strong and I am confident to go out there and play this week and so are the doctors.”

Boyd said 2013 has been mentally tough watching the young, developing side from the sidelines, and not being able to help them in seven games this season.

“It’s been a tough year because I haven’t actually through my career had to deal with too many injuries and I have missed seven games this year with injury,” he said.

“It’s been personally frustrating but more so than that it’s been hard to sit by and watch and not be able to help our young group play the way we want to play and help teach those guys out on the field as well.

“That’s been the biggest frustration for me, but hopefully that is behind [me] and I can finish the season off strong.”

Boyd said his time in the stands has in fact invigorated his hunger to play on and help lay the foundations as the Club continues to build.

“I still love the game and I am really passionate about this footy club and helping us develop and helping us move forward into the future,” he said.

“This year missing a bit of footy you realise how much you actually do love it and how lucky you are to play the game that you love.”
