It’s a massive few days for Mitch Wallis.
On Friday night, he played an important role in the Bulldogs’ pressure-releasing win against GWS at Marvel Stadium.
And on Sunday evening, he and wife Emily became proud first-time parents to a baby girl, Charlotte Rose.
Wallis joins a group of Bulldogs players who have become fathers recently, including Easton Wood, Tom Liberatore and Jason Johannisen.
The heart-warming news, which was announced on Monday morning, is another boost to a Bulldogs squad which is hoping to build on the momentum it started to generate with the win over the Giants.
Wallis, speaking to 3AW radio on Saturday, said consistency will be the team’s focus this week.
“I was just really proud of the boys, the way they attacked the game and put in a consistent effort over the four quarters, up against a quality opposition,” he said.
“We’ve really set a foundation going forward of what we expect every week.
“We don’t want to just be a blip of good footy and then fall back.
“We’ve taken one step forward, but we need to continue this momentum and continue the voice and the rage in the contest.
“We’re still sitting at one and two and in the bottom half of the ladder, so the challenge is ahead of us, but we’ve also proven that if we grow from this performance, we can match it with the best of teams going forward.”
