Fifteen players have been fined by the Match Review Officer (MRO) for engaging in a melee at three-quarter time of the Western Bulldogs’ win against the GWS Giants at Marvel Stadium on Friday night. 

Eight Bulldogs players and seven Giants players were cited.

However, Aaron Naughton was not charged over a first-quarter incident which resulted in Lachie Whitfield sitting out the game due to concussion, with the MRO deeming Naughton was contesting the ball and his actions were not unreasonable.

Key forward Josh Bruce can accept a $750 sanction with an early plea – for a second offence – while Naughton, Marcus Bontempelli, Sam Lloyd, Bailey Smith, Mitch Wallis, Bailey Williams, Caleb Daniel can all accept $500 penalties for first offences.

For the Giants, Heath Shaw, Callan Ward, Jeremy Finlayson, Aidan Corr, Daniel Lloyd, Brent Daniels and Harry Perryman can all also accept $500 fines with an early plea.
