The boom acquisition of power-forward Tom Boyd to the Kennel, headlines a successful NAB AFL Trade Period for the Western Bulldogs.
The 2013 No. 1 draft pick, along with fleet footed Sydney Swans half-back Shane Biggs, will both make the Dogs’ West Footscray headquarters their new footballing home for 2015 and beyond.
A strengthened draft position has also resulted for the Bulldogs at the completion of the NAB AFL Trade Period, now holding three second round draft selections (pick 26, 27 and 39).
The Club has also committed to taking athletic, tall defender Zaine Cordy as a father-son selection with its fourth round selection (currently pick 64) in the 2014 NAB AFL Draft.
Boyd was added to the Bulldogs playing roster from the Greater Western Sydney Giants on Wednesday, in return for Ryan Griffen and pick six in the 2014 NAB AFL Draft.
Biggs will make Melbourne’s western suburbs his new home, after being traded along with pick No. 39 in return for pick No. 37 which the Bulldogs acquired in a trade with Essendon for Adam Cooney.
Also traded out of the Club in the player movement period were Shaun Higgins (North Melbourne, restricted free-agent) and Liam Jones (Carlton, traded for pick 46)
Following this trade, the Western Bulldogs now heads to November’s 2014 NAB AFL Draft with picks 26, 27, 39, 45, 46, 64 (Zaine Cordy, father-son), 82, 100 and 118.
