Shaun Higgins expects nothing less than a physical encounter when lining up against Fremantle tomorrow night, with the 25-year-old set to play his first competitive game in almost a year.

While West Coast defeated Fremantle by 84 points in their first NAB Challenge clash, Higgins expects the full-strength Dockers to up the ante at Etihad Stadium.

“They are obviously a quality side, well-drilled and play to their structures really well, so it is going to a really good test for us,” Higgins said.

“We know how good they are, they showed that last year.

“We are expecting them to come over tomorrow night and really crank it up for round one.”

The anticipation and excitement has already started to build for Higgins, as he looks to gain match practice before season proper.

The classy utility will play his first game since round three last year, after suffering a navicular fracture in his foot.

“It’s probably just natural after 12 months out but [I’m] really looking forward to it,” Higgins said.

“I can’t wait to get back out and mix in with the younger boys again and continue to build on where we left off last year.”
