After missing last weekend, Jack Macrae and Nathan Hrovat have been named in the Bulldogs extended squad to face Sydney on Sunday as two of five inclusions.

The two 2012 first round recruits are joined by Ayce Cordy, Jason Tutt and Lin Jong in the 25-man squad.

Will Minson and Jarrad Grant have both been omitted from the side that played North Melbourne last Sunday.

Assistant Coach Shannon Grant highlighted the rapid development of Macrae over the past two seasons and said after a week’s respite the 19-year-old is raring to finish the season.

“To do what he’s done in two years of footy at this level as a kid starting out is exceptional,” Grant said.

“He’s been terrific, but he was just a little bit fatigued the last month or so and we felt as though last week would be a really good week to freshen him up.

“He’s fresh, he’s ready to go and hopefully he can finish the season off really well.”

Hrovat has spent the past two seasons under Grant’s tutelage, with the forwards coach noting the improved consistency in the small forward’s game as the season has evolved.

“He’s got a lot of talent, Rat, he’s probably found and he would be frustrated with it as well, not being able to get on the track over summer and in the early stages of the year,” he said.

“He’s really worked on that and he’s been able to get his body right and he’s starting to get some continuity in his footy - I am sure he will finish the year off well as well.”

After repeatedly impressing for Footscray Ayce Cordy is on the verge of playing his first game for season 2014, with the 204 centimetre big-man having played a dual ruck/forward role in the state league.

Jason Tutt returns to the senior squad after featuring among the best in Footscray’s past two wins, as well as kicking four goals.

Elevated rookie Lin Jong is also in line for a recall, after strong recent performances in the Footscray midfield at VFL level.
