While the Bulldogs in recent weeks may not have been as prolific on the scoreboard as some pundits may like, there’s been no issue with the side’s ability to share the scoring load.
In last Saturday night’s win over North Melbourne, nine separate players hit the scoreboard and that’s just how forwards coach Daniel Giansiracusa likes it.
According the Bulldogs’ forwards coach, the even spread makes the his side hard to plan for.
“I think we’d like an even spread, we don’t want to focal point to be one particular guy, then the opposition can’t really direct their attention to one particular person,” he said.
“We don’t care who kicks the goals.”
The Dogs generated sixty inside 50s last weekend, fifteen more than the opposition, and Giansiracusa said he’s pleased with the opportunities being created, but there’s work to do on the final execution.
“We’d like to kick more, we’d like to kick a higher scores and we’re confident with all of the work we’re putting in that’ll turn pretty quickly.”
The Dogs face Collingwood tonight at Etihad Stadium who on average score on 47% of their forward 50 entries, which is identical to the Dogs, and Giansiracusa is confident that with a tweak, the Dogs can kick a big score.
“Probably that last kick inside 50 is the one we’ve got to get better at from both an execution point of view," he said.
“But also the players up the field, and the patterns that they run to give the ball carrier the option that we want… hopefully that comes out on Friday night.”
