Western Bulldogs CEO Ameet Bains is no stranger to tackling the big issues.
And this week, he’ll be throwing his support behind The Big Issue.
Bains, who has just returned from a trip to the Middle East with Australian aid and development agency Save The Children, will be selling The Big Issue magazines in Footscray on Thursday morning.
You’ll be able to catch the Bulldogs’ boss from 8am to 8.30am outside Footscray station, donning a Big Issue vest and hat, and armed with the latest edition of the magazine to help raise funds for vendors across Australia.
The Big Issue is an independent, not-for-profit organization which supports and creates work opportunities for homeless, marginalized and disadvantaged people.
Bains will spend the morning alongside western suburbs local Jeff, who has been selling Big Issue magazines since 2012 – and also happens to be a Western Bulldogs supporter!
More than 11 million magazines have been sold in Australia since the program began in 1996.
Magazines are sold for $9, with vendors receiving $4.50 each.
This week marks The Big Issue’s International Vendor Week (February 4 – 8), with Bains joining CEOs from various industries across Australia in helping to shine a spotlight on vendors working hard to change their lives.
