Western Bulldogs Development Coach and Williamstown Assistant Coach Peter German looks at how the Bulldogs listed players are faring in the VFL.

Andrew Hooper: Played mainly forward and was really effective in the conditions. Kicked two goals and laid some good tackles in pressure as a small forward. His last couple of games in the VFL have been pretty good, certainly at ground level with his crumbing - so that has been a strong part to his game.

Tom Hill: Tommy was probably sluggish early but after half time responded to a challenge put to him. He actually really was a lot stronger in the air and I think in the third quarter had three shots on goals from strong play, but missed all of them. That is an area that he can improve just with his goal kicking.

Christian Howard: Went to half back and played his role. Howard gave us some good rebound during the game. Was just a good solid performer for us on the day.

Alex Greenwood: Again was a bit sluggish early but as the game went on he really put himself in the action. Had eight tackles and was actually quite neat and clean with his ball use so that was good in the conditions.

Patrick Veszpremi: Patty was another one that was slow out of the blocks but his second quarter was pretty good. Won some stoppages and played higher up the ground and made some good contested ball. Just came off as a precautionary measure after half time with some back soreness but should be right for this week.

Liam Jones: He played as a higher forward. In the conditions he really needed to be more of a target to put the ball to him to make a contest and he did that pretty well. Some of his second efforts to chase and pressure were as good as we have seen for a while, so it was pleasing form that point of view.

Matt Panos: Tough day in the conditions we played him forward and then played him back in the last quarter. It was one of those games where it was tough as a forward but down back he did his role. I think Matt will be looking forward to when the ground is a bit dryer and he can start showing his footy smarts when the ball starts zipping around a bit more.

Brodie Moles: He was steady. He had four tackles in the first quarter so he was a player that actually went at it nice and hard early and again became one of our contributors who did the right thing at the right time when he got the footy. Another player who hopefully when the grounds get dryer we will start to see a lot more of his strengths as a player who can cover the ground and become a good link player for us.

Jarrad Grant: He played on the wing and then we played him in defence throughout the game. He was probably the best at being able to handle the ball in the conditions - being able to control it and use it pretty well most times. I was pretty pleased. He was probably one of our better players on the day.

Justin Sherman: In the conditions he was lively. He kicked an important goal before half time so some of his running was really good and he laid some strong tackles in the game. He is certainly still working on areas of his game that he has to keep working on but some of those areas were pretty good on the weekend.

Tom Campbell: He rucked pretty much the majority of the game. He gave the players at ground level some really good opportunities and followed up really well after his ruck. He used some of his kicks, because he is a long kick, he really put it into dangerous areas at times that got us goals. He was one of our best players as well.
