The last time the Western Bulldogs played Carlton in Round 2 was 22 years ago, in 1998, on a day to remember for the red, white and blue faithful.
More than 27,000 fans packed Princes Park that day to watch the Dogs storm to a 56-point victory and maintain their unbeaten start to the season.
The Bulldogs had made a perfect start to the 1998 campaign - a 46-point opening round win on the road against the Brisbane Lions, while the Blues had a narrow victory over Adelaide.
The star-studded Bulldogs outfit, coached by Terry Wallace, traded blows with Carlton in the opening stages before a seven-goal second term blew the game right open.
Another eight goals in the third, and the Dogs were already celebrating.
James Cook was the star of the show up forward with six goals, while Steven Kolyniuk chipped in with four majors.
Ball magnet Scott West collected a game-high 26 disposals on his way to the three Brownlow votes, and Chris Grant was immense, clunking 14 marks to go with his 20 touches and two goals.
The Bulldogs went on to finish second on the ladder in 1998 with 15 wins, eventually losing the preliminary final to Adelaide.
