Season in short:
After moving to the Bulldogs at the end of 2014, Boyd handled immense pressure for a second-year player.
Boyd played 14 games and pleased his coaches with his endeavour and attack on the football.
At just 20 years of age, Boyd would regularly take the opposition’s best defender, while facing multiple defenders at any contest.
After three goals in Tasmania, Boyd was awarded a Rising Star nomination in round three against Hawthorn.
Boyd finished second among rising stars for hitouts, fourth for contested marks and sixth for goals – kicking 16 for the year.
While he spent the latter stages of the season in the VFL, Boyd showed significant promise and with another full pre-season under his belt is set to develop into an integral part of the Bulldogs future.
Stat that mattered:
Boyd kicked a career high four goals in the Dogs clash with Brisbane in round 12.
What they said:
“It’s obviously been quite an exciting year for the Club and similar to the team’s trajectory, I’ve had some good games and some bad ones… I felt like I definitely held my own and had a couple of good ones through the middle of the year. I achieved some things this year that I set out to achieve and in the future just looking for that consistency over 22 games of the year.” – Tom Boyd, September 2015
“It was a real growth year for Tom… He competed extremely hard especially in the first half of the year and he probably tired in the second half but we saw great growth in him and again another one with a big pre-season in place, really getting his body right to play a season against men, I think he’ll only improve as the seasons go on.” – Daniel Giansiracusa (Western Bulldogs Assistant Coach), September 2015
