As we approach the festive season it’s a great time to think about how we can give to others that may have less than ourselves.
In addition to members being given the opportunity to donate membership packs back to the Community Foundation, this year the Club and Western Bulldogs Community Foundation (WBCF) are installing a Giving Tree in Barkers Café.
The idea is to collect gifts for children from migrant and refugee backgrounds who attend Western English Language Schools in Maribyrnong City Council (Footscray Park and Braybrook).
WBCF works with approximately 100 newly-arrived children from these schools through our CALD Play program.
We would like to call on the generosity of the wider Bulldogs community to, as a starting point, collect a gift for each of these children.
Gift ideas
The students are aged 7-10 years of age, or you may wish to consider gifts for older or younger siblings between 5-12 years of age.
We suggest gifts that are educational, improve fine motor skills or encourage kids to be active or creative, including items such as:
- Pencils and colouring books
- Jigsaws
- Sports equipment
- Board games or card games
- Arts & craft materials
If you would like to donate a gift, Bulldogs gift tags will be available at the VU Whitten Oval reception.
Please make a note of the age appropriateness of the gift and if it is gender specific.
Thanks in advance for helping to welcome and support our newly-arrived communities!
