AFTER beating Adelaide last weekend, Western Bulldogs defender Lindsay Gilbee believes the skill errors that cost his side three straight losses are behind them.

Gilbee, 27, said the 32-point win over Adelaide was influenced by the players finally finding their precision.

"It was good to get the four points. Any game in Adelaide isn't going to be easy and to walk away with the four points and to get a bit of a kick myself was great," he said on Wednesday.

"It was important to get some form back. We hadn't been playing badly but our skill errors had been costing us.

"We've gone through all the stats and in the three games we lost it was our turnovers that were the only thing hurting us.

"It was something we rectified on the weekend, and it shows if you move the ball well and with good skill, you're going to win most games."

The Bulldogs' recent losses coincided with Gilbee's personal drop in form after an electric opening three rounds.

On Sunday at AAMI Stadium, the running defender picked up 27 touches and kicked a goal in what was his best game in a month.

"I was pretty heavily tagged throughout that period of time," he said.

"Getting help from your teammates does help and it was good to get back a little bit of form, although getting four points is all I care about.

"We took steps forward on the weekend but I can improve, as can a lot of other guys."

One of the big differences in the Bulldogs' side on the weekend was the improvement of influential midfielder Adam Cooney and creative goalkicker Robert Murphy.

Cooney was playing his fifth game for the season, while Murphy was appearing in just his third after the Dogs took a cautious approach to his return from a knee operation.

"Having Coons and Murph back just lifts the team and the morale," Gilbee said of Cooney's inspiring third quarter and Murphy's four goals.

"With Coons winning the Brownlow last year, you know he's going to be handy, and Murph with his creativity and his run and ability to lose his opponents certainly adds another dimension to our forward line."
