It’s an exciting time to be at Victoria University Whitten Oval according to Jack Macrae.
With the Bulldogs set to do battle with Melbourne in game one of the JLT Community Series this weekend, Macrae said that fans can expect a mix of new and familiar faces over the course of this pre-season.
“It’s always good to see the young players get a chance in the JLT, he told the RSN Breakfast Club this morning.
“I think throughout the three games there will be a mix of different people and experience as well so it will be exciting to see the young boys but some of the old boys as well.”
Despite spending almost 40% of his time forward last season, the unheralded Macrae still averaged a career-high 27.6 disposals per contest in 2016, and he expects that split between the forward line and the midfield to continue.
“I think it will be similar to previous years playing inside and a bit on the wing and pinch hit forward as well, he said.
“[But] I’ll be looking to expand my game in the forward area as well and fill a role whenever I’m needed.”
The Dogs face Melbourne on Saturday afternoon, Brisbane on March 2 at Etihad Stadium and Gold Coast Suns on Thursday, March 9 at Metricon Stadium.
