After being neck in neck for most of the Brownlow Medal vote it’s likely Ryan Griffen and Matthew Boyd will again find themselves in a tight contest next fortnight at the Western Bulldogs Charlie Sutton Medal.

Standout favourites for the award, the two are hard to split after both played integral roles in the Bulldogs midfield throughout the year.

Watch the media player above to see who the Bulldogs players believe will take home the 2012 Charles Sutton Medal.

The contested ball mantra has been drilled into players since Coach Brendan McCartney’s appointment with Boyd’s natural ability complementing the Coach’s style - yet Griffen cannot be overlooked adding a harder edge to his game and becoming a lot more versatile across the field.

While Griffen and the skipper are frontrunners for the illustrious honour, few can go past Liam Picken’s self-sacrificing, team oriented efforts week in week out which could also see him get the late call up.

Brian Lake was also inching closer to All-Australian form as the year progressed - performing admirably in what ultimately was a tough season for the back six.

Will Minson, Luke Dahlhaus and Mitch Wallis could also pose as an outside chance as they battle it out amongst themselves to challenge for a podium finish.

With Coach McCartney and his assistants casting the votes, the only certainty is the eventual winner will be selfless, courageous and determined.
