Former captain Matthew Boyd will act as the stand-in leader for the Western Bulldogs against Port Adelaide.
Current skipper Robert Murphy will miss the round 19 match due to general soreness, with Boyd taking over the mantle.
Boyd has seen a change of role in 2015, moving from a midfield role to the half-back line and is in potential All-Australian form, averaging 27 disposals and eight marks.
Boyd led the Club as captain from 2011 to 2013.
The Bulldogs will also be without half-back Jason Johannisen, who was withdrawn from the Bulldogs' selected side to play Port Adelaide with hamstring tightness.
Joel Hamling comes into the side to replace Johannisen, while Lukas Webb takes Hamling’s place as an emergency.
Lin Jong and Sam Darley also come into the side to face Port Adelaide to replace Murphy and Josh Prudden, who also misses out due to general soreness.
