Last week, the Western Bulldogs, in partnership with The Salvation Army and Lumo Energy, provided a group of young people from The Salvation Army’ Westcare with the opportunity to meet and learn from the experiences of some of the Bulldogs’ best in captain Robert Murphy, Jack Macrae and Will Minson.
The young people taking part in the clinic were aged 10 to 18 years and are a part of Westcare's Foster Care program.
They are unable to live with their families for a range of difficult reasons including exposure to family violence, parental drug use, poor parental mental health, environmental neglect and deceased parents.
On behalf of The Creating Dreams project- a program run by Westcare to acknowledge the achievements of young people- Bulldogs players presented two young people with bikes to recognise their efforts at school.
The relationship between the Western Bulldogs and The Salvation Army was fostered by Lumo Energy, who has associations with both organisations.
“We’ve been working with The Salvation Army for over two years now, and we saw this clinic as a fantastic way to support the great work of Westcare and the pathways it offers the participants so they can lead a happy and full life,” said Tim Harrington, Executive General Manager of Marketing and Sales at Lumo Energy.
