The Western Bulldogs will make their final preparations ahead of round one this weekend against Collingwood, with the Dogs fielding a near full-strength squad.
Assistant coach Daniel Giansiracusa said the Dogs would use the match as their final chance to put into practice what they had worked on throughout the pre-season.
“It’s the final dress rehearsal going into West Coast in round one.
“It’s just a chance for us to put into place things that we’ve been trying to work on all summer.”
The Dogs will field an experienced line up including captain Bob Murphy, vice-captain Jordan Roughead, Liam Picken, Jacks Macrae and Luke Dahlhaus who all return after a week off.
“Bob and Roughie come into the side as well as a lot of other guys with experience so I think you’re just trying to finalise your makeup, with obviously a few spots still up for grabs for round one, but trying to settle as much as possible.”
One player who is looking to secure a first round spot is draftee Caleb Daniel, who holds his spot in the side after his first game against Melbourne last week.
Daniel’s composure stood out and Giansiracusa says the young Dog showed a lot of promise.
“I think he got better as the game went on.
“He’s really clean below his knees and he’s an exciting prospect for us, and it’s exciting that he gets another opportunity to show his wares.”
